Sunny Beach infrastructure to be put up for sale again

The infrastructure of Sunny Beach resort will be sold to the Nessebar Municipality, Konstantin Grebenarov, Governor of Bourgas, told Klassa after holding a working meeting on Friday. A decision on the ownership of streets, alleys and green plots in the resort had to be taken then. Currently, the activities for maintaining the common parts in the resort are being carried out by Sunny Beach Inc. Hotel owners, however, are paying fees to both the Nessebar Municipality and to the company and do not agree to do this in the future.

The State should compensate somehow the minority owners, holding 25% of the resort company, so that the infrastructure could be transferred to the Nessebar Municipality. One of the options is to buy out their stake and the State to become the sole owner of Sunny Beach Inc. A new market evaluation of the infrastructure will be made for the purpose and various options for rescheduled payment will be proposed, Elena Ivanova, Chairperson of the Union of Owners at Sunny Beach, told Klassa. According to her, in this way owners would only be paying the fees they owe under the Local Fees and Taxes Act, namely: property tax, garbage fee and tourist fee. Now, they also have to pay an infrastructure fee to the company.

"The State should buy the share of minority owners and the infrastructure should be managed by the Ministry of Economy through the Municipal Council, instead of transferring it to Nessebar," according to Malina Stratieva, Executive Director of Sunny Beach Inc. "The State will not pay real money because the company has a reserve fund. Then the activities will be financed by the delegated budgets of the municipalities on the basis on the tourist fee. This would render the process more transparent," Stratieva is adamant.
