A charge of BGN 50 to guarantee the origin of the energy from renewable energy sources

The application charge for issuance of guarantees of origin for renewable energy sources (RES) will be BGN 50, decided the ministers yesterday. No differentiation is made between the various manufacturers, types and quantities of energy (electricity, heating and cooling energy). The Government adopted a tariff for the charges, collected by the Agency for Sustainable Energy Development (ASED) under the Energy Efficiency Act and the Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources and Biofuels Act. “It brings together in one document the existing tariffs, levied by the agency,” announced officials from the Press Office of the Cabinet.

According to the Renewable Energy Sources and Biofuels Act, ASED is entitled to issue guarantees of origin for the energy produced from RES. These guarantees are issued on the basis of applications submitted by the producers, regardless whether these are subjected to licensing under the Energy Act. A guarantee of origin must be issued for a standard quantity of 1 MWh energy from RES. The application should be filed in ASED at the end of the calendar month in which the energy is produced, but not later than 10 months thereafter. It can be for the energy produced from RES over one or more calendar months.
