Eleven companies to pay more than BGN 420,000 in fines for uncleaned roads in winter

The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) will fine 11 companies responsible for winter cleaning of national roads to pay more than BGN 424,000, the agency reported. The penalty was imposed after checking the work done in November and December. The sanctioned companies are responsible for maintaining the national road network in the 10 regional road departments – in the towns of Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Russe, Sliven, Targovishte, Yambol and Pernik.

The results of the inspections of the work of snow-cleaning companies in January 2012 will be ready at the beginning of March.

“The biggest problems during the heavy snowfalls in January were observed in the operation of companies in the Pernik region. There were minor lapses everywhere and the companies know they will be fined,” commented RIA’s Head, Lazar Lazarov.
