The National Palace of Culture to be included in the prohibitory list of privatisation

The National Palace of Culture - Congress Center Sofia and Fishery Resources - Sozopol will be included in the prohibitory list of privatisation pursuant to the adoption of the parliamentary decision yesterday. The MPs passed at second reading the amended Privatization and Post-Privatization Control Act. The GERB government motivated its proposal for imposing a ban on the privatisation of NPC with the major public importance of the joint stock company and its preservation as a cultural center of prime national importance. Fishery Resources - Sozopol controlling the fishing port of the seaside town is subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. It is planned the company’s activities to cover the towns of Balchik and Varna, where fishing ports will be also registered. Besides, the Parliament rejected the proposal for the exclusion of the Bulgarian Posts from the prohibitory list of companies banned from privatisation, which have more than 50 % state stake in their capital. At the same time, other companies including the Military Publishing House, Audio-Video Orpheus and ADIS were written off from the prohibitory list of privatisation, which means that they can be sold.
