“The second metrodiametre, including the section from the corner of Han Asparuh street and Vitosha boulevard to the market in the Lozenets residential district is 70% complete,” said engineer Bojan Delchev, Project Director. The deadline for the commissioning of the section is September 2012. The construction is carried out by Metro Trace, which won the tender with a bid of BGN 170.3 mln. The plan projects the construction of three metro stations, as well as the completion of the partially built structures in the section NDK (National Palace of Culture) – Earth and Man Museum.
Construction along the entire metrodiametre will be completed by the end of the year and only finishing works will remain for 2012. Traffic along the Patriarh Evtimiy – Vitosha boulevard crossing should resume in mid-March.
“The extension of the first line of the Metropolitan (from the Mladost I residential district to Tsarigradsko Shosse boulevard) is about 60% complete,” said engineer Ivanov. Work on the buffer car park at the metro stop is underway. It will have 1,350 parking spaces. According to the schedule, the traffic along Tsarigradsko Shosse boulevard should resume by September. The parking lot will be commissioned in April 2012 – a month before the deadline. The plan for using the car park is currently being drafted. The idea of using the car park and the Metropolitan with a single ticket is being considered. In this way, the buffer car park will take up most of the traffic to Sofia.
